MMfD submits key concerns on Citizens Protection (Against Online Harm) Rules 2020 to Parliamentarians

Media Matters for Democracy (MMfD) submitted key concerns, objections and recommendations on the recently passed Citizens Protection (Against Online Harm) Rules 2020 to the parliamentarians. In the analysis, MMfD highlights that the rules are a direct threat to Pakistan’s digital economy, and citizens’ right to freedom of expression and privacy.

MMfD urges that the rules should immediately be de-notified, and any attempt to form such rules should be done in consultation with all stakeholders, and in consideration of human rights principles.

The Analysis by MMfD can be found here.
